Audacity not loading properly

Windows 8.1 and Audacity 2.3.0…
Once again I downloaded Audacity 2.3.0 with the installer. But if I open Audactiy and click help and then either ‘quick help’ or ‘manuel’ I get the Windows Player box saying ‘the selected file is not recognized…yada yada…’ Pretty strange. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your file associations are messed up.

What web browser do you normally use?

Google or sometimes Google Chrome…

A web browser called Google? What’s that?

Google Chrome is the default browser…

Assuming that you are reading this in Chrome:

  1. Select Chrome’s main menu button located in the upper right corner of Chrome (represented by three vertically aligned dots).
  2. When the drop-down menu appears, hover your pointer over the “More tools” option to open a submenu.
  3. Select “Save page as” to open a standard save file dialog that overlays your browser window.
  4. Select the option “Web page(HTML only)” and save the page somewhere convenient (such as your Desktop) as
Audacity not loading properly - Audacity Forum.html
  5. Close Chrome.
  6. Double click on the file “Audacity not loading properly - Audacity Forum.html” (on your Desktop, if you saved it there as suggested.

The page should open in Chrome, but the layout will be different (because it’s only the HTML without the styling or images).
Does it?
