Audacity menus grayed out

Running version 3.00 on Mac 10.15.7
Have Audacity on screen and receiving audio signal.
Most of Audacity menu in main bar are grayed out. I.e. Save to MP3, Save project etc.
HELP please ?

What do you mean “and receiving audio signal”? Do you mean Audacity is recording?

That could be because Audacity has not (yet) captured any audio. Try Generate > DTMF Tones, for example, to create some audio. Then Save to MP3 should work.
