Hi there! I am working with Windows 10 and Audacity 2.4.2, and am running both my mic and my music through a Rode Pro-FX mixer. While I can get Audacity to record whatever I say into my mic, Audacity refuses to record any music I am playing, despite music showing up on the microphone volume display. Any help or suggestions on this would be appreciated.
Windows comes out of the box all set for Comm, Chat, and Conferencing. That usually means auto noise reduction, echo suppression and other voice processing. Auto Noise Reduction hates music.
Dig in the Windows setups and see if you can find “Windows Enhancements” and turn them off.

Note that your perfect, velvety-quiet, well-behaved microphone is likely to go away when you do that. That processing is what’s been supporting you. Home voice performers in straight, simple recording have problems with environment and electronic noise.
