After updating Audacity it seems that whenever i hit record the program starts freezing. It says recording in the bottom left, but its not. I hit stop and it takes a few seconds for it to come back from freezing. I tried doing it a few times and it ended up almost crashing my pc suddenly freezing up and the window got really low resolution. I just Exited the program after a few. Happens everytime I use it. Have been using this program for years and havent encounted this. I also did Reset the config. I have not re-installed the program. Just want to give a heads up on this bug. Most of my drivers should be up to date.
What version of Audacity old / Audacity new?
What operating system / version?
Does it really freeze, or do you just not “see” any input (waveform)?
Did you allow Audacity to access sound input (usually called “microphone”) in security settings of your OS?
What device is used to “get” the sound?
In case it is a newly-introduced bug, older versions are here.
If you are recording streaming audio, WASAPI loopback can record a silent stream but it can’t record “nothing”.
