Audacity isn't opening up for me.

Audacity isn’t working for me. I have a Windows 10. Is there anything I can do to be able to open it again? I didn’t know what to do so I tried downloading the latest one and it still isn’t working for me.

I still got this message:
The system has detected that another copy of Audacity is running. Running two copies of Audacity simultaneously may cause data loss or cause
your system to crash.

Use the new or open commands in the currently running Audacity process to open multiple projects simultaneously.

Start by determining whether the error message is correct. Do this by looking at the detail view in task manager. ( Right click the taskbar and select task manager. Click more details at the bottom if you see it. Then use the details tab. Click on the name column to sort by name the look for audacity.exe. If it is present you can right click to find the file location. Note that it is possible that audacity is started in the background if you have placed it in the task bar permanently. Windows will also remember and re-open running tasks from a previous session in some circumstances and its also possible to run audacity under one user account then switch users without closing it and Audacity probably won’t tolerate that.

Try rebooting your computer.

How do I open the task manager? I have a Windows 10 laptop.

“Alt + Ctrl + Del”, then select “Task Manager”.

Did you try rebooting the computer?

How do you reboot the computer? If I reboot the computer, do I lose everything I have on the computer?

Reboot just means “restart”. Turn it off, then on again. Or click restart.

I did reboot the computer and it actually worked now. Thank you. I did reboot the computer before and it didn’t work. Now for some reason, it worked now.

Thanks for letting me know that.
