Audacity isn't hearing my voice well anymore

When I first downloaded the program, it was hearing my voice properly, and I was recording properly just earlier today. When I looked into recording audio from programs that were active on my computer, I changed a few things to get it to work, and now it does… but Audacity isn’t hearing my voice very well, the best way to describe my voice is… with the mic right at my mouth, background noise. It seems to pick up my voice as background noise. I’ve uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. But that doesn’t seem to have fixed the problem. This leads me to believe that it’s a problem with something I’ve changed on my Microphone or Computer settings, the problem is… I can’t figure out what that thing I’ve changed is. I’ve reset everything in my recording devices 5 times, I’ve tried to change everything back to what it was set to, but nothing seems to solve the problem. I’m using Audacity Version 2.0.3

What sort of microphone are you using and how is it connected to your computer?

I’m using a basic Logitech Headset Microphone. It’s not a USB, it uses the Jack.

Audacity keeps your old settings intact when you reinstall, so unless you choose “Reset Preferences” in the installer, reinstallation is usually pointless.

Have you tried selecting this microphone port as input device in Audacity Device Toolbar ?
