I’ve been using Audacity for a work-related podcast for nearly 8 years. In the last year I’ve begun having crazy issues with it. I’m usuin a Zoom Podtrak H4 device as the interface between a couple of C1 Condensors and my HP Laptop.
When recording directly to the H4 memory card with the mixer gain set to 6 I get great sound. If I instead record the same audio direct to Audacity using the same mixer setting, the audio is completely blown out.
This happens when I’m recording in audacity alone or when, as I’d prefer, I’m recording to both the H4 Memory card and Audacity so that I have backup recordings in case something goes wrong with one.
I’ve tried lowering the mic gain in audacity but it has no effect until its all the way off. As soon as its up a notch or two, it bowls everything out again. I really don’t get it.
I’m currently using Audacity 3.6.1. Windows 10. Any help would be appreciated.
