I’m running the latest version of Audacity on a PC with Windows 10 Home, Version 21H1. I have downloaded Audacity on my laptop and desktop computers, and on both devices, when I’m mastering an audiobook recording, Audacity will suddenly stop responding. When it does this, if I save the file and close the program, when I bring the file back up after reopening the program, the file is corrupted and the same thing happens. If I export the file as a WAV file, and then reopen Audacity and open the WAV file, I can continue working and the problem doesn’t happen again until I try to work on another aud file. This only happens during mastering; not during recording at all. And it doesn’t happen all the time … maybe 85% of the time. Can you shed some light on what’s happening? I’m fairly new to audiobook recording, so it could be something I’m doing or not doing. Thanks!
Cheryl

I don’t understand that. When Audacity stops responding, it won’t Save or Export anything.
Do you have an official Audacity program?

What’s the version number? Edit > About? I’m not a Windows user.
