Audacity freezes when I try to export a file as an MP3. I am Windows 10, and Audacity 2.1.2. I have tried to export into a few different file formats but it always does the same thing. I end up having to close Audacity through the task manager. I have been using Audacity for a few years now and have never had this problem. Please help.
Some Audacity installs try to export sound files to the system area which Windows doesn’t like very much. What happens if you try exporting to the desktop? Do you get any messages at all, or just freezes?

Does it work if you File > Export to the default format, WAV (Microsoft). Is there anything odd about your works, like they’re all 37 hours long or 52 tracks deep?
You do have enough free drivespace to support the new files, right? Audacity has to make protection copies of the whole show repeatedly as you edit. That’s how it makes UNDO. So if it can do that, you must be telling Audacity to do something a little wacky for it to complain.
