Audacity freezes after recovery popup window

Whan I start up Audacity, it shows a popoup window to recover a former project. I select the project, press ‘recorver project’ (or discard project’ - it doesn’t matter). The popup window closes and the program freezes. I can’t click any button. Any mouse click produces a ‘pop’ sound but that’s it. The only thing I can do is to force quit the program. I uninstalled Audacity, cleaned my computer, installed the newest version of the program, but nothing helps. Always the recover window opens and the program doesn’t do anything.

Any idea what I can do to get back to the program?

My system: Mac OSX 10.6.8 - Audacity 2.1.2

It’s a bug which we have now fixed in our source code.

If you don’t want to keep the unsaved changes, delete the AUTOSAVE file in ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/AutoSave/. This will prevent Audacity trying to recover the project. Go > Go to Folder in Finder is an easy way to get to the AutoSave folder.

If you want to recover the project, the easiest way is to use our latest 2.1.3-alpha build which has the fix. To obtain that, click the topmost item on The Automatic Crash Recovery dialogue should work properly there.

Alternatively the recovery dialogue should also work correctly in “Audacity 2.1.1-screen-reader” listed on
