I see Win 10 in the notice: my OS is Win 11. But that should not cause the issue. All my other *.aup3 files open properly. I have the zipped diagnostic report but cannot attach it. Can someone lend me a hand?
Could you describe what happened? With all minor details: what edit operations you did before closing the project, was there anything unusual during save or close, what storage you use.
When you closed the project, were there shm or wal files with the same name near the main project file?
Not gifted, I always perform a lot of editing, which details I cannot recall. Typically, I use my favorite tool, Sliding Stretch, to sync a vocal or guitar to the drum track. I might have used the Envelope Tool to reshape cymbal crashes that crescendo if the compression release time is insufficient. The project appeared to be saved without any problems.
In the past, when I open a document, occasionally a notification appears that the file was improperly saved, but it always opened. Not sure if I got such a notification with this file.
I believe I noticed -shm and -wal files under the *.aup3; they disappear when the project is closed. Sorry that I cannot recall more details: I had not worked on the project for some time.
I managed to recover most of the tracks, using Audacity-Project-Tools, v1.05; so my interest now is learning what caused the problem and how to avoid it.
