Gentlemen,
Small question: in Audacity 3.6.1, (also 3.5.1), I trim the applause from the end of an mp3, then save.
Back in Mediamonkey 4, the already volume-levelled file appears no longer so.
When I again level the track volume, and MM seems to do so, an F5 refresh shows in not levelled.
When in MM I convert the file to itself, all is well.
Is there an explanation?
Thank you.
Most likely, it’s a matter of tags. Audacity has a problem with tags in general. And it simply lost the leveling tag.
Right… ReplayGain doesn’t touch the actual audio data. The player software reads the ReplayGain tag to adjust the playback volume when playback starts. (If your player software doesn’t support ReplayGain, the tag will be ignored and the volume won’t be affected.)
When you export from Audacity you are creating an entirely new file and some tags are not copied to the new file. (Any embedded artwork is also not copied.)
