Audacity crashes when trying to record 20 channels from Rodecaster Pro 2 Firmware version 1.7.3

I am currently running the latest version of Audacity for Mac (3.7.7) — on macOS 26.4.1 — and I record through a Rodecaster Pro 2. The Rodecaster used to provide up to 16 channels to cover all its inputs, but their latest firmware update (1.7.3) has changed their channel mapping and there are now 20 channels that it can provide. When I try selecting all 20 channels and hit record in Audacity, Audacity crashes immediately.

I realize there are few instances when I would need to record from all its available channels, but I thought it was important to raise the issue, in case anyone else has run into this problem.

To be clear, when it was only 16 channels, I could record from all 16 with no problem. The issue is that, if you need to record something coming in through an input mapped to channels 17 through 20 (based on the new standard 20-channel map), you will crash Audacity. (You can remap the inputs yourself to get around this, provided you don’t need all 20 channels.)

The current online user manual provided by Rode has not been updated with this information. I’m not sure if I can post a hyperlink here, but if anyone needs to see the new mapping structure, here is a link with the update: https://help.rode.com/hc/en-us/articles/15412830674959-The-RØDECaster-Pro-II-Duo-Multitrack-Channel-Layout

I’d be curious to find out if this is a glitch that will be fixed with a future Audacity release, or if anyone has a workaround. Thanks!
