Audacity can't find ffmpeg.55.64bit.dylib

I have followed the instructions on the Installing FFmpeg for Mac - https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_ffmpeg_for_mac.html - multiple times, but Audacity can’t find the FFmpeg library. Can anyone help me figure out what I may be doing wrong?

Which version of Audacity do you have? What version of macOS? Note that the 64-bit version of FFmpeg requires a 64-bit version of Audacity (2.3.1 or later)

Please start Audacity then select Help > Diagnostics > Show Log. Click the Save button to save the log into a text file. Copy and paste the contents of that text file into a reply here.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I’m running Audacity 2.4.2 on a MacBook Air running macOS 10.15.6. Screen shots attached of what I’m seeing as I try to help Audacity find the FFmpeg file.

The lame_64bit_osx.pkg installation appears to go just fine.

When I go to Preferences > Library > Locate, navigate to the file and click “OK” I still see “FFmpeg library not found” regardless of how I navigate to the file.

When I go to Help > Diagnostics > the Show log link is greyed out.

Look at your first screen shot. You are using the installer for LAME, not FFmpeg.

D’oh! Thanks.
