Audacity breaks internet connections each time I come out of it

Hello :slight_smile: Can anyone solve this issue: Everytime I come out of Audacity and attempt to go to the internet, it shows ’ not connected to the internet’ I have to put the computer into ‘sleep mode’ then get it out of sleep mode to be able to get back online again. Can anyone explain this and help me please? Thank you very much for your time and consideration!

No. This is the first I have heard of this. I would try uninstalling the software then installing from: Audacity ® | Downloads

If the problem persists, you could try disabling the check for updates (Edit > Preferences > Application)

I also wonder if perhaps you are running some security software that causes this to happen.

Hi Jademan! I did try and reinstall the software. I am running McAfee in the background. Hopefully I can figure this out soon. It has been going on for months and I have tried everything. I am using Windows 11. Thank you for responding :slight_smile:

I had a similar sounding problem a few years ago - but it was never associated with Audacity. The problem would go away when I reset my router. After a while I gave up and bought a new router - that fixed it. :grinning:

If Audacity using the internet (telemetry) is responsible for breaking your connection, there are ways to prevent that, e.g. …
