Audacity automatically sets the buffer length to a much higher value when recording

Hello. I set the buffer length to 1.67 ms and latency compensation to -2.17 ms, however, whenever I’m recording, Audacity has the audacity to increase the buffer length to a value corresponding to 512 samples (input latency: 4.17 ms; output latency: 5.50 ms), even though the desired value should be that corresponding to 32 samples (input latency: 1.67 ms; output latency: 3.50 ms).

NB: sample rate is 192 kHz and sample format is 24 bit.

System:

  • Windows 10 x64
  • Behringer UMC404HD
  • UMC ASIO drivers
  • Audacity 3.7.7 with ASIO support

Is it possible to prevent Audacity from the increasing the buffer length? If so, how?

Thank you.

Here is something that might confuse the issue even more for you. Standard Audacity out-of-the-box operates on the audio data in 32-bit float.
