Audacity.app 2.1.1 is corrupt in .DMG

I could not get Audacity 2.1.1 to run (“The application, “Audacity”, can’t be opened”) after installing with the .dmg download on 10.11.1 (El Capitan). I then downloaded the .zip archive, extracted the Audacity.app file, overwrote the .dmg version and, voila, it opened right up. Audacity.app is corrupted in the .DMG file.

If you also saw a message that Audacity was from an “unidentified developer”, the solution would be to right-click or CONTROL-click over the Audacity.app in the extracted “Audacity” folder then choose “Open”.

Thank you. The official download site is http://audacityteam.org/download/mac. The DMG download from there should not be corrupted, assuming the download connected properly.

I downloaded both the DMG and ZIP files from the Audacity site. The error message is different from the one related to security (below), Right-Click-Open does not work. Replacing the single Audacity.app file from the ZIP version opens with the “unidentified developer” message and is usable. I’m running El Capitan 10.11.1

Have you tried downloading the .dmg file again?

Could just be a transmission fault in the download. It’s rare, but still happens.
