audacity and behringer guitar link

Hi,

I selected from device my usb behringer link but doesn’t record a track with the effect i’m using :astonished: any advice? Thanks

Guitar Combos runs in VST, AU and RTAS plug-in versions. Guitar Combos runs in VST, AU and RTAS plug-in versions.

If it’s used as a plugin, Audacity doesn’t apply filters or effects in real time. You record the performance flat and apply the effect later in post production.

If your goal is to overdub, and I don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t work with the headphone connection at the Guitar Link, you wouldn’t want live effects anyway. You won’t know what the song is going to sound like until you have it all together.

We can’t take effects and filters out. Closing Audacity makes it forget the UNDO and Audacity Projects do not save UNDO.

So if you apply an echo you hate later, tough. Play it again. It’s strongly recommended you keep clean individual tracks for your song.

Thanks for your attention.

I understand Audacity doesn’t apply filters or effects in real time.

indeed my goal is overdub. what you mean for “You record the performance flat and apply the effect later in post production”

what exacly i have to do to hear effects on the track? i tried to save a song or save a project but nothing.

Thanks

It would help if you said exactly how you are trying to apply effects between the Guitar Link and Audacity.

If you apply some effect in Audacity after recording without effects, you can see and hear the results at once.

What effects do you want? Distortion?

distorsion with plexi combo amp.

That’s hardware by the sound of it. You can’t apply effects from anything attached to the phones port of the Guitar Link.

Apply the effects using the included Guitar Combo software, if you want to use the GuitarLink. Or use Tracktion to record.
