Audacity 4 auto noise reduction

There’s an improvement in general quality when recording with 4.0, it seems like a general noise reduction is applied or noise is automatically filtered out while recording.
Are there any options/plugins people would recommend to achieve this same automatic effect? It’s the only reason I currently have to use 4.0 over 3 currently and I really just want to stick with 3 until all the teething issues with 4 are sorted.
Might be a silly question but would appreciate if someone would enlighten me

That’s not Audacity,

That’s not it, I’m afraid. Still a good bit of info to know, I’ve disabled sound enhancements on every input/output possible but this doesn’t interfere with any of my recordings as they run through focusrite. To prove I wasn’t going crazy, I recorded audio side by side with 3.7.7 and 4.0. Not retakes, actual 1 for 1 audio, exported them to wav and listened back and there is a noticeble difference in background noise

I’m wondering if there’s some setting that’s buggering audio in 3.7.7 but I’m going on a big google spree and it’s not turning anything up.

Edit; FML. Apparently my host has been set to MME, instead of WASAPI. Fml. That’s been screwing up my audio for the past year and I was none the wiser…

If you notice any audio improvement between 3.anything and 4, this is the likely culprit
