Windows 11 Pro
I also have RODE Go II system and their podcasting software, which installs some custom RODE audio devices.
Curiously, I did as the last post, un-installed (I usually install on top of). Got a notice some items could not be removed. Manually went and deleted the program folder.
Re-installed, clicked the box to RESET settings.
And it worked once! heheh.
Posting this as a “fix” but if it does it again, I’ll be back!
Argh! The very next time I tried to open Audacity it hangs with the splash screen - again. The splash is modal so it wont go away and you cant move it. Have to force quit Audacity to get out.
I am using RODE Go II mics - two RX and 4 Tx. To record them I installed Rode’s “Rode Connect” Podcastor recording software V 1.3.43. As well as “Rode Central” to manage the hardware and on-board recordings.
I notice something - the Podcaster? - has added custome ROD devices to Windows Audio sources and speakers.
My suspicion is Audacity is hanging trying to get details or connect with the virtual devices.
Is there a way to avoid that? Or verify this is indeed why its hanging on the Splash screen?
Update: After I force quit Audacity I opened Windows Sound settings and discovered it said I had “No Audio devices”! I ran the troubleshooter that brought back all my devices, including the Rode virtual ones. But no sound. The troubleshooter was still open, I clicked “No” this did not fix it. It said it RESET my audio drivers but I needed to reboot.
After a reboot, audio worked. And Audacity opened right up without much delay!
I pulled a diagnostic report hoping it might shed some light. The system will let me attach the 10K ZIP file!!!
I tried to attach the contents, 5 at a time. Only to be then told new users can only have two “links”. Not impressed. I’ll pick two files, if you want any of the others just ask.
