Audacity 3.3 not recording

I have an audio technica turntable USB. It is recognized by Audacity but when I try to record all I get is flat lines & no sound at all.
Host: MME
Playback: External Speakers Cirrus logic Superior
Recording: Line 3 USB Audio Codec
Channels: 2 Stereo

Windows Control Panel Sounds
Playback: External Speakers Cirrus logic Superior
Recording: Line 3 USB Audio Codec

Any suggestions

Yes - in Windows Control Panel, Recording > Line 3 etc. > Properties > Listen > check Listen to this device to see if Windows is receiving anything.

Have already done that. Still no sound.

So I would check all of the connections in the turntable and the cartridge connections. You didn’t say which model…

Model is AT-LP5X.

Connections are all secure. It has to be a software issue. Either windows 11, Audacity or the sound card. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the sound card. Still did not correct the issue.

Yet you said Listen to this device gives you nothing.

Listen to this device has no sound, software playthrough on Audacity does nothing. Yet all my current music stored on my HD sound fine when played on Audacity.

I have nothing further to offer at this time.

I found the issue. It was a hardware issue. This is a new Dell computer with only one speaker input. I use Logitech Z506 speakers which are 5.1. I was using a three-way splitter from the speakers to the computer. Removed the splitter and used a straight line cord. Everything works. However, I now have a 2.1 speaker system. Specs for computer said it was 5.1 but apparently not.

Thank you for sharing your solution. This will help other users. :grinning:
