On version 2.4.1 of Audacity, when I fit tracks vertically (View > Track Size > Fit to Height), the program just crashes. Behaves the same if the menu item is clicked or if the shortcut key (Ctrl+Shift+F) is used.
(My distro is MX Linux 18.3; kernel is 4.19.0-8-amd64 x86_64.)
This is a known P2 Bug on Linux - and one we have fixed for the soon to be upcoming 2.4.2 release:
Actually that’s for Audacity 2.4.0.
The problem occurs if Audacity is built with autotools rather than with cmake.
From version 2.4.0 onwards, Audacity should be built with cmake, but it seems that showdonttell’s version has been (incorrectly) built with autotools.
The problem will go away with 2.4.2 because all of the old autotools bits have been removed from 2.4.2 so that cmake has to be used.
Oh okay, thanks for the replies! Perhaps I will make it with cmake and give it a shot (or just wait for the new release, since this isn’t that much of a hindrance).
