It’s always a good idea to remove dodgy plug-ins, though the problem here was simply that your operating system is too out of date for recent versions of Audacity.
It’s always a good idea to remove dodgy plug-ins, though the problem here was simply that your operating system is too out of date for recent versions of Audacity.
Nope, that’s not the case. That version of Audacity was working fine one day, then stopped the next. Nothing had changed on the Mac, no updates or anything. Version 2.3.0 is - according to the official site - for OSX 10.7 onwards.
Yes it is, but that assumes that 10.7 has the updates that Apple provide for it. Until very recently Audacity supported Windows XP, but that assumed that XP had all of the service packs.
So what are you suggesting? That Audacity 2.3.0 magically changed overnight? I don’t understand your point, but so long as you are now up and running I’m happy
The reason that I suggested Audacity 2.0.6 was because I searched for similar cases to the problem that you described. I found some, and like you they were all using very old versions of mac OS, but they could still run Audacity 2.0.6. I found no cases like this on updated machines. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
Nothing had changed - it just stopped working. That’s why I posted the errors - I wondered if anyone else had seen something similar.
The crux of it seems to be these lines:
Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libcrypto.35.dylib
Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
Reason: image not found
But I don’t know whether the dylib in question is part of Audacity or part of a corrupted plugin.
