Audacity 2.3.0 crashes after previewing VST plug-in effect. imac 27" OS 10.12.8
After setting parameters and previewing a VST Plug-in effect (Izotope RX7) Audacity, 2.3.0 Locks up and must be restarted if not closed and reopened prior to actually running the effect.
The Izotope installer automatically saves the plugins to "library/audio/Plugins/VST/RX7 (pluginin name)
and
iztp/aufx/Zn70/izotope:Rx7 (plugin name)
When selecting an effect I’m asked to choose which file location to use.

You could try with the latest “2.3.1” version of Audacity (available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/)
but please note that iZotope states:
