I am using two apps on two desktops. The two programs are similar. One has the level meters on top, the other has them 3 levels lower on the left. Is there a “default” design? Or a way I can make both screens look the same?
The extremes of each tiny window are click and drag points. You can put the windows wherever you want including in a couple of cases outside of the Audacity work window altogether.
My personal favorite is to change the sound meter range to 96dB (max of 16-bit) and stretch the meters across the whole window.

I found that solution by accident. I did not find a way to move any one tool bar to another position either horizontaly or verticaly. The default is fine.
The vertical ribbed stripe to the left of each tool bar is a steering control. Click and drag. The other bars should scurry out of the way. The double vertical stripe to the right is a sizing control. Click and drag and the size of the bar should change.
