Program has worked well for years. Not sure what happened as no major changes to this computer system. Audacity 2.1.2 started to freeze, so un-installed and re-installed with .exe now it seems to be recording fine but playback is scrambled, or very slow with loud noise. Checked sound settings, what else could be problem? Thanks.
Perhaps your computer is due for some tlc (routine maintenance):
Uninstall any applications that you never use.
Disable start-up items that you don’t need.
Remove any web browser toolbars that you don’t need.
Delete obsolete documents / photos / videos / … that you no longer need.
Remove browser plug-ins that you don’t use.
General cleanup (example: Ccleaner)
Full in-depth malware + virus scan with up-to-date reputable scanner.
Manual defrag (example: Defraggler)
Ensure that your OS and remaining apps are fully updated.
Then install Audacity 2.1.3 and select the option to “reset preferences” during the installation.
