Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron laptop running Audacity 2.1.1. All of a sudden will not recognize an audio device…in or out. Any suggestions other then the obvious, uninstall and reinstall and check options/preferences, which I have done.
Thanks in advance.

What won’t? Windows or Audacity? Does Windows play music OK? Record in Windows Sound Recorder? You didn’t mention restarting the machine.
check options/preferences
Check them or did you reset them?

Have you just now upgraded to Windows 10 on the same machine and the problem has only occurred since that upgrade? If so please follow http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_10_OS#drivers.
If you have had Windows 10 for a while then what sound cards are you using - only the built-in sound device, or have you just added some new external sound card?
Adding a new sound card that does not have Windows 10 drivers may cause Audacity not to recognise any audio devices (as per the above link). In that case you would need to check on the site of that new device for Windows 10 drivers or firmware, and install those drivers or firmware.
