Hi, I’m trying to run Audacity 2.1.1 on OSX 10.9.5, but it doesn’t open
I read the Known Issue:
Known Issue: Security settings on OS X 10.7 or later may block Audacity being launched. Most users on OS X 10.9.5 and later will experience this, due to changes made by Apple.
To permanently enable Audacity launch, right-click or control-click on the Audacity application in Finder, choose “Open”, then in the dialog box that appears, choose “Open”.
But even after trying that, it didn’t work.
Any clues?
Thanks
Does your install look like attached?
From the top desktop bar, Go > Applications. Scroll down if needed. Before and after that will be your other apps.

I told my machine to show me extensions. Your machine probably won’t have the .app part of the labels.

thanks for your replies
I have a previous install of 2.0.3 with ffmpeg, lame and few other libraries.
I dragged the old Audacity (2.0.3) out of my applications and onto my Desktop, then dragged the new 2.1.1 folder into the applications folder, it looks like the attached.
The console log says this:
7/19/15 11:57:55.887 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[254]: (net.sourceforge.audacity.202784[469]) Exited with code: 255

Ok I used Appzapper to completely uninstall the previous version and now it seems to work
I think there was a problem with the ffmeg extention
