Having Trouble With Audacity 2.1.0 On a Emac ppc Installed With 10.4.11 operating System Does not open When i download it Could Somebody Explain Why.
Sorry, but Audacity 2.1.0 does not run on OS X 10.4. We did not know this when we released 2.1.0.
You can get the previous Audacity 2.0.6 from http://www.oldfoss.com/Audacity/download/audacity-macosx-ub-2.0.6.dmg which will run on 10.4.
Alternatively, upgrade to OS X 10.5 or 10.6. Audacity 2.1.0 and the upcoming 2.1.1 version will run on OS X 10.5 or 10.6.
Audacity 2.1.1 is expected to be the final version to support PPC Mac’s.

PLEASE update your download pages and ask other sites to do the same… I just wasted an afternoon trying to start Audacity 2.1.0 on my mac 10.4.11 - which your (and other) download pages say works on 10.4.11 PPC. Arrrgh!
Sorry about that. Our previous web host (Sourceforge.net) stopped hosting us recently without warning. Since then, only one person has access to the site to push changes across.
I’ll make the Mac system requirements changes soon, but the changes might not necessarily appear at once.
We don’t control other sites than audacityteam.org. When we release 2.1.1 soon, other sites that host Audacity will probably notice and then update for Mac system requirements.
