Thanks for testing, KeyserS.

So it seems that WDM-KS makes two analog output devices where MME and Windows DirectSound only see one (in Audio Device Info). Does Device Toolbar show two analogue outputs when you choose MME host?

Also WDM-KS has no analog input comparable to device 1 (MME Realtek HD Audio input). Instead it sees stereo mix (device 14). When you choose MME host do you have four separate inputs in Device Toolbar for stereo mix, line in and two mics? What separate inputs appear in Device Toolbar when you choose WDM-KS host?

Thanks

Gale

I see: “Mappeur de sons Microsoft - Output” and “Realtek HD Audio output” and ATI HD Audio rear output".

I see:
Mappeur de sons Microsoft - Input
Realtek HD Audio Input: CD Volume
Realtek HD Audio Input: Line Volume
Realtek HD Audio Input: Front Mic
Realtek HD Audio Input: Mic Volume
Realtek HD Audio Input: Stereo Mix
Realtek HD Digital input

And on the right I see: “1 (mono) input channel” and “2 (stereo) input channels”.

Input (Realtek HD Digital input)
Stereo Mix (Realtek HD Audio Input)

And on the right I see: “1 (mono) input channel” and “2 (stereo) input channels”.

Thanks - OK. That’s more confirmation that WDM-KS doesn’t see all the inputs.

If you want to, if you select WDM-KS host and the ATI HD Audio rear output in Audacity, does it play? If I recall, this was the output that was disabled in Foobar2000, wasn’t it?

Gale

Well, it seems to play, at least I got no error message at all and the file is playing. But unfortunately I actually have no HDMI device available to check if it really works.

It’s not disabled, foobar does see it but returns an error message when trying to use it:

Unrecoverable playback error: KS output error: error opening device

I’m not sure the foobar Kernel Streaming component is a reference though.

However with WDM-KS I have 3 outputs:
Speakers (ATI HD Audio rear output)
Speakers 1 (Realtek HD Audio output)
Speakers 2 (Realtek HD Audio output)

This is not possible, there is one Realtek too many and when trying to use the latter I got this error message:

Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.

Thanks, Keyser S.

Gale

Tested build: AudacityTest.zip (04 OCT 2013)

Same report as the previous one with the same error about the WDM-KS outputs:
Speakers (ATI HD Audio rear output)
Speakers 1 (Realtek HD Audio output)
Speakers 2 (Realtek HD Audio output)

There is still one Realtek too many which is still returning this error message when trying to use it:

Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.

Log and device info are attached into a 7z file.
