Audacity 2.0.3 and FLV_Runner

I have Windows XP, Professional Version, 2002 and I recently upgraded Audacity 2.0.2 with
Audacity 2.0.3. Both versions work fine for me so far.
They were both installed from the audacity.sourceforge.net programs
Around the same time, a program named FLV_Runner appeared with its exe and toolbar
programs. It is a Conduit progam.
At the moment it does not seem to be causing any problems, but it is unsettling
to have it in my computer software if it is not involved with the Audacity programs

i) Is FLV_Runner part of the Audacity program ?
ii) If not, any information you can give me about it purpose and potential threats
would be appreciated
iii) Any instructions and/or references on how to uninstall it and all its exe and toolbar files
would also be much appreciated as I suspect that it is not just a simple matter of
uninstalling it
Thank You

No, Conduit is believed to be adware and spyware (at best) and at worst, a purveyor of malware that could harm your computer.

This is nothing to do with Audacity, but a search on google finds this that you might find helpful:

Also not to alarm you but I recommend the following strongly.

Close all programs. Then set a full virus scan to be performed when the computer starts (boots) and
restart the computer. This is best done overnight as it may take several hours.

If you do not have an antivirus program you can try Avast!:

Make sure your antivirus software is set to update itself automatically to use the latest virus definitions.

Audacity cannot help you with these steps, but many Windows computer forums will offer assistance.

Generally XP is much more insecure than later Windows versions. You must be running a software firewall (Windows has a basic firewall you can use) or you will get all kinds of malware on your computer within a few minutes of internet use.

Also use Windows Update to make sure you have the latest available Windows XP Service Pack 3, the latest supported version of Internet Explorer and all the latest available security patches. Not doing so will increase the risk of repeat infections.

Thank you Gale for your response, it was most helpful.
My computer is protected by Norton 360 and I have Windows Service Pack 3.

A Norton technical support representative removed additional malware from my
computer and ran Norton’s virus scan which identifies and removes any
viruses in the computer. I was lucky as no viruses were detected.
I would just like to say that the Norton representative was very helpful and
removed malware that I could not find.

I would also like to comment that I am very pleased with the very high quality
of sound recorded using Audacity 2.0.3.

Thank you again,
