I am currently using a version of Audacity that was compiled by LeoWattenberg with ASIO support. It is available on github. It is version 3.7.5 with ASIO.
My question is are there versions after this that include ASIO support. This is crucial for me because I use the Zoom H6 Essential field recorder and it seems this is the only version Audacity that I can get it to work with, via the ASIO driver for the device from the Zoom website.
I would like to use future versions because I already ran into problems that I feel may have been fixed in versions after this version. The biggest one is where the playback of simple stereo wav file stops after 40 -60 seconds, which is annoying while trying to record audio from multiple mics into other tracks.
But my biggest question is will there be ASIO support in the new 4.0 version of Audacity.
I have returned to audio editing after years of being out of the field and Audacity has always been a go to tool for me.
Thank you to everyone who helped create this application
Just out of curiosity, have you tried using Ocenaudio instead of Audacity to see if it works with your setup?
There seem to be major problems with ASIO and portaudio which is why ASIO support actually got merged and then removed again in 3.7.8. I can make you a newer audacity with ASIO build, but I don’t think your experience will be any different

The main issue with PortAudio + ASIO is how Audacity starts up: it scans and opens every connected device on each start. And in turn, it opens ASIO devices in exclusive mode, which breaks audio in other running applications.
Hopefully, we will solve it by the next release (3.7.9 and 4.0.0) in one way or another. We are just short-handed rn and have to prioritize other bugs and issues we have with the au4 beta.

It feels like ASIO is cursed.
For so many years you had to compile yourself for personal use to avoid licensing problems, and now that you don’t, other issues pop up.

@Wrecks0 update: ASIO was merged to 4.0.0 branch and now it behaves much better. A bit later we will backport it to AU3.
