So, I just downloaded Audacity to use with my new iphone external mic. This message keeps popping up and won’t let me continue using the app until I “subscribe”. Why?
You’re trying to run Audacity on your phone? There is no phone version of the “real Audacity”.

As DVDdoug already said: there is no phone (or iPad) version of Audacity.
In addition:
In the AppStore for iphone, if you search for “Audacity”, you see an app called “Audio Editor - Audio Aufnahme” (German) or “Audio Editor - Music Maker” (English) with Audacity’s logo - but it is not Audacity.
Audacity is published by “Muse”, the iPhone-fake-app is published by “Innovation Software Development 360”.
I think, Muse should try to have this app either removed or at least to force the use a different logo.
