Amplify Effect in an Edit Chain?

Hi,

I’ve just started using Edit Chains for dynamics processing of spoken word material.

When doing this manually I’ve used Amplify, setting it to -0.5dB. Is there a way to do this using Edit Chains. It seems that the only parameter available is Ratio which will vary the output according to the level of the input. Should I use Normalize instead?

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer:
“Amplify” allows you to set how much to amplify by. (Example: Amplify by +3 dB)

“Normalize” allows you to set what level to amplify to. (Example: amplify to -1 dB)

“Normalize” also allows you to correct DC offset. Audacity Manual
