All tracks scroll when selecting one track

When I highlight a section of one track, sometimes–not always–all the tracks scroll in the direction I drag to highlight the segment. Sync tracks is disabled, and “Editing a clip can move other clips” is not selected in Preferences for Tracks Behaviors. Is the problem I describe a known bug, or am I overlooking something when loading clips into a project?

From what you describe this seems to me to be normal behaviour.

When you drag-select in a track and your mouse moves off the left or right edge of the window, the entire project (all tracks) will scroll to keep the selection edge in view, just like dragging the horizontal scroll bar.

Are you describing a different behaviour?

Something that might be helpful to know is that with the mouse you can not only select left and right, you can also select up and down. Although you probably are not moving the mouse up or down enough to select them all.

Hi! Are you using version 3.7.6?? That had a lot of similar problems. I did all those things you did. And then I went back to 3.7.5. But apparently 3.7.7 is safe. After the hue and cry about the issues, they quickly developed 3.7.7 and now there’s 3.7.8… But I’m still afraid to try it!

Sometimes when I click in a track, the whole project jumps to the left. If I drag the mouse , an undetermined length of a segment is highlighted; and the all the tracks move in the same direction. This is clearly a bug.

I experienced a random failure to save issue in v3.7.8 and reinstalled v3.7.6.

But I think I found the cause and a workaround for the highlighting a segment problem: do NOT right-click on an audio file, point to “Open with” then choose Audacity, after which you might drag & drop files into the GUI.

If I open Audacity (without use of Windows’ context menu) and load files into the interface, all is well. Hopefully the issues described above will be resolved in the next version.
