adjusting input volume

Hi I’m using Audacity 2.0.5 on windows 7. When I try to adjust the recording volume I get a pop up saying “input volume, unavailable use system mixer” Can I change this so that I can use the audacity microphone slider icon? My other settings are windows wasap, input and output device realtec high definition loopback. please help. thanks

I think WASAPI is “digital direct” into Audacity so I don’t think you can alter it.

You can always use the Amplify effect after recording to boost or reduce the volume.

What are you recording? Does the regular Windows “playback” mixer have any effect?

DVDdoug is correct that you can’t alter the level of the recorded signal when using WASAPI loopback - you need to use the sound-supplying app to control the signal level.
