i wanted to add Valhalla Supermassive Plugin and MuseFX Plugin to Audacity. I downloaded both and installed them to C:\Programme\Common Files\ as told in installation guide. Valhalla i installed in VST2 and VST3. As Audacity didn’t recognized it, i copied the file to the plugin folder of audacity. Now it regonizes it but don’t adds it, because “the library couldn’t be load”.
With MuseFX the problem ist much more, i copied the VST3 File of it to the Audacity plugin folder. But Audacity doesn’t recognizes it and a refresh button don’t exist anymore. I’ve been googling now for hours but didn’t find anything. PLEASE can anybody help me. I really need them 2 now
Thanks
Some 3rd party plug-ins don’t officially support Audacity but sometimes they work anyway. Usually with commercial plug-ins the developer has a list of supported hosts but I didn’t find anything on the Valhalla website. It’s rare… I don’t think I’ve ever seen a commercial plug-ion that officially supports Audacity. You might want to check with their support.
With free plug-ins they rarely have a list. With no budget, they obviously can’t test/debut/support several hosts/DAWs. You just have to try it and it’s hit-or-miss.
Of course the Muse plug-ins should work but the download page does list some version & hardware requirements.
Normally with a VST you run the .exe installer and it automatically creates DLL files in the right folders and Audacity will find it. (And it will create the folder structure if it doesn’t already exist.)
Most VST2 effects get installed in C:\Program Files\Steinberg, and Audacity checks there. (I’m not sure if VST3’s go in the same place.)
I habe done this with the exe installer and it created me a dll file in the VST2 folder. But as i said, Audacity didn’t want to open it.
Why i do this all: The hall from our last tone is cutted and i want to restore it. The standard Echo-> Reverb from Audacity is much too less, the hall brings nothing. I need some much better for 1-2s. If anyone knows another plugin or solution how to do this, please tell me.
