A feature request to add a “Test” button Macro menu that when pressed would run the Macro without saving the Macro.
Why not just run the Macro?
When creating long Macros you often need to find a command, see what it does, and see what it does when appended to your chain. In the current implementation, there is no apply button so to modify the Macro you need to hit “OK” which closes the dialog then you need three clicks* to run the Macro and another two to reopen the dialog. Rapid iteration is needed to make effective Macros and currently, it’s overly verbose. A simple “Test” button would solve that.
*You can save some clicks by assigning a shortcut but that’s a workaround and it shouldn’t be expected to test a Macro that should be necessary.
You mean “Apply to Files”? the difference between a test button and that is “Apply to Files” saves the Macro whereas “Test” wouldn’t.
I generally use the “Apply to Project” as a “Test”.
