ACX-Check Plugin

Hi everyone, I’m new to running audacity on a macbook 10.11 but not new to mac or audacity. Anyways, I’m just trying to download the plugin and put it into audacity, however, it just downloads as a txt file which I’m having issues putting into the plugins folder of audacity. It was smooth sailing on my pc but I right click and the option to save as is not there and it just keeps downloading as a txt file. How do I just download the thing and put it into the plugins folder?!? It’s driving me crazy.

If this has already been addressed somewhere else, please point me in the right direction. I’ve already visited the “how to download and install plugins” on the wiki page a thousand times, still can’t get it to download as anything but a txt file with instructions and code.

Thanks so much!!!

Nyquist plug-ins are just plain text files, but rather than the usual “.txt” file nane extension they have “.ny”

When you download the plug-in does it go into your “downloads” folder? If it does, you should be able to just drag it across into the plug-ins folder (open a second Finder window with the plug-ins folder open).

Once you have it in there, you will need to use the “Add / Remove” feature to enable it: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/manage_effects_generators_and_analyzers.html

I download to my desktop instead of the “Downloads” folder, so sometimes I get .txt instead of what was supposed to be there. Change the name.

Control-click (right-click) the file > Get INFO. The INFO panel will let you change the filename.

You don’t need that step in Audacity 2.1.0, right?

If I recall correctly, in Audacity 2.1.0 you need to restart Audacity before the new plug-in shows up.

Oh, right. Because it scans for new plugins (and connections) at startup.
