actors trying to make radio play

Hello
we are actors having trouble with the technicalities of recording a play… we use a lot of sound effects and we are also changing the sounds of our character voices… we have a good mike … we are both musicians too !!! (lucky I know ) That is pretty much all we want to mix together…Is Audacity what we need to learn… Is it the best vehicle for two older but hilarious idiots to use? Or is there anything out there better… and simpler… My comrade Simon has been the operator of the equipment…He can import our voices and the sound effects lay them in ect but he is using another system (unsure what one but its not audacity) …Basically its really hard to do,things dissapear and after he downloaded a new down load …God knows why …but things have got really annoying and very inexplicable!!! and ruining the experience mostly for him! We need to start again and we don’t want to be using a too all singing and dancing programme …Is it audacity??? If anyone out there can recommend the most simple way for us… we will raise a glass of good will to you… Very kind regards Lucy

I think I would hang with what you got right now for one odd reason. Audacity is in final arrangements for a new version. If you change right now, you will be shuffling between not one, not two, but three editors.

After we settle the upgrade and get used to supporting it, then come over.
