a couple of bugs?

Recently I’ve had annoying things happen to me whilst doing my weekly radio show

Whilst during playback I’ve hit the drop down menu in the track, went to name and it (I think) has show up behind the main window, so making it impossible to close it as everything else is frozen. the only thing I can do is to open Task Manager and force close Audacity and hope I can recover all the work, so far it has but I live in fear of it not having saved my work! Is this a bug or have I a setting wrong somewhere?

Another annoying thing is when drag and dropping a new mp3 into Audacity, once its opened the track the main window flips up to the very beginning of the program I’m making. Meaning I have to scroll down to the bottom to edit move etc. Sometimes I forget and start to drag the track in front of me to the place I want it but its the wrong track (already in its place in the timeline).
Is there a setting that can be turned on to keep the main window at the level of newly imported track?
and is there a setting to stop drag and dropped tracks from always going to the very start of the timeline? like where the selection tool is at that time?
Thanks for your time

Which version of Audacity? (look in: “Help menu > About Audacity”)

I’m not able to reproduce that with Audacity 2.4.2.

You can’t change this behavior.

Hi Steve
Audacity 2.4.1 on windows 10

I’m not able to reproduce that with Audacity 2.4.2

Im not sure why or when it happens but it has a few times, next time Ill try and keep info for a bug report

You can’t change this behavior.

Even if it defaulted to the imported track position instead of going right up to the top of the Audacity window would be really helpful, is there a place to ask for this to be included in future releases?
many thanks for your responses and time
