2nd track won't overdub (Solved)

I was able to overdub several tracks yesterday and now today it doesn’t work. I start to record the new track and it creates the new track, but nothing happens. It just sits there, not actually recording anything. I have to click STOP to do anything else, so it clearly is trying to record, or thinks it is recording. But, it doesn’t.

I am recording from a USB device, my “Play Acoustic” from TC Helicon.
I am running version 2.3.3
I have rebooted several times
i have unplugged and replugged several times.
i have tried resetting preferences.
I have reinstalled 2.3.3
I tried changing from MME to Direct Sound and back several times.
i switched to mono recording to see if that helped
i tried changing audio quality from 32 to 24 then to 16bit

If I uncheck “Play Other Tracks while recording”, then it will record the next track, but I need to be able to listen to the first track while I play over it. This is crazy! Just stopped working overnight! Any ideas?

Okay, i figured it out after a bit more playing around. I noticed that the Windows Device properties were set to a different quality… 44800 (DVD), while the quality in Audacity was set to 44100 (CD). i made them match, restarted audacity and now I can overdub again. I don’t know how it got changed, but that seemed to fix it.
