I have an 8:59 mp3 track that I am trying to edit, but audacity abruptly cuts off the audio after 3 minutes . When normally playing the track in a music player, it sounds fine and completes the entire song. Any suggestions?
When Audacity edits sound, the first thing it does is convert the sound to its own super high quality (large) format. Then it can save whole versions of the song as you edit. How much room do you have on the drive and how many other things are running on your machine? Running out of memory?
Do you use on-line storage, Google Drive, etc? Audacity doesn’t like those very much.

Does anything change if you clean start the machine? Shift+Shutdown > Wait > Start. Did the problem get either better or worse?
