Hello: I’m engaged in a long-term project to transfer my LPs to high definition digital using Audacity. I just download 2.3.2 on to to Mac Pro I use to record the vynal disks. The file is about 3.3 gb. After entering the metadata and pressed “save” I got the error message stating that Audacity cannot export wav or aiff larger than 4 gb and that export operation had been canceled. There is clearly something wrong. Under prevevious versions, I never encounterd this kind. I check the Preferences settings but can’t think of anything else to check. Your help is much appreciated.
Are you exporting 24-bit WAV?
If so there is a known bug which mistakenly restricts it to 3GB and not 4GB

I’m exporting 192 mhz stereo files at 24 bit depth. How soon can this bug be fixed? In the meatime, what workarounds would be best?
Reduce the sample rate.
If you think you can hear above 20 kHz, use a sample rate of 48 kHz.
Background:
Double blind tests have consistently shown that music recorded at 44.1 kHz sample rate is indistinguishable from the same music, recorded with the same equipment, at 48, 88.2 or 96 kHz. Also, that sound quality above 96 kHz is usually worse than at sample rates between 44.1 and 96 kHz (see: 24/192 Music Downloads are Very Silly Indeed)
There is evidence to suggest that people with “golden ears” can distinguish between 96 kHz sample rate audio, and the same audio after downsampling to 44.1 kHz, though not sufficiently as to be able to say that one is better than the other, just that there is a very subtle difference. This is likely to be due to imperfections in the resampler. Audacity’s resampler is extremely good, but you still may want to use 48 kHz rather than 44.1 if you have concerns about possible audible differences.
Possibly in the next release 2.3.3 - but it may slip to the one after that - we are very few in number in this volunteer project …
The Release Manager is aware of this bug - the Release Manager created this bug with a simple numerical error
