I’ve been using Audacity for years, updating each time a new version is released. Just tried installing 2.0.4 on my Windows 7 SP1 computer, 12GB RAM, 1TB HD and i7 processor. It installed ok then completely crashes the system when Audacity 2.0.4 tries to start. I tried uninstalling all previous Audacity files first, same thing. I tried installing 2.0.4 with no DLLs, same thing, a massive BSD crash, which I haven’t experienced on my computer in years. It apopears to be a file called KSTHUNK.SYS that is listed on the blue screen. I’d like to go back to 2.0.3, which I’ve been using with no problems, but can’t find a download for it. Now I’m out of luck.
Thanks, didn’t see it…
Uninstalling Audacity can be an adventure.

And you should uninstall it or the broken one may leave pieces of itself behind.

It sounds like it could be this problem: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/audacity-start-failure-or-blue-screen-on-a-few-machines/30903/1
Please try the solution described in that post.
