Re: Amplification

Is it possible to amplify only one channel (left side, in my case)? You can do that with the "Channel Mixer" Nyquist plug-in. It is available here: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Channel_Mixer Installation instructions are here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/instal...

Does your computer have an audio input device?
Do you have PulseAudio installed?

Re: Audacity Freezes Up

Is this what you're talking about ? The file is on your Desktop? That shouldn't be a problem. I clicked the little question mark on the prompt to learn more and it brought me to a troubleshoot page on the Audacity website (sorry, I didn't save the link and can't find the page anymore. If you see th...

Re: Enormous file sizes

I can also confirm that the default install of the latest version of Audacity (3.0.2) creates MASSIVE .aup3 database files. It is normal and expected that AUP3 files will be big. In older versions of Audacity, there was a separate "_data" folder that contained the audio data. That folder would grow...

Re: Why does audacity convert 16 & 24bit files to 32bit float?

Isnt upsampling it just adding extra 0s? It's a little more complex than that, but basically yes, just padding. Where that upsampling becomes important is when you start working on the audio. Example: Say that you have 16-bit audio data, containing sample values: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and you amplify by -2...

Re: long wait for every change in one project

I've tried to move back to 3.00 Don't use 3.0.0. Audacity 3.0.2 fixes some important bugs that were in 3.0.0. I was mixing 4 tracks and the project began to clock on every change for about 30 seconds. If a second input was sent during the 30 second period, the (Not Responding) comment would show. O...

Re: Teaching AUDACITY on Zoom

I teach a brief section on AUDACITY (in a multimedia class) via ZOOM , and I've had major audio issues: 1. I need to unplug my headphones for my "live" students to hear me properly (and to hear the Audacity demonstrations too), so I've been taking them on and off during class. 2. Also, I record my ...

Re: Unable to open AUP File Between PCs

It seems that Windows Defender was blocking Audacity from creating the temporary files necessary to open and edit an .aup3 file. Did you have "Controlled Folders" enabled in Windows Defender? (I think it's off by default) If so, then it's probably that feature that is blocking Audacity. When enable...

Re: How to specify a list of timepoints for a plugin to operate on?

Result: After I clicked on the Debug button, a dialog titled "Nyquist Prompt" popped up with the message "Nyquist returned a list" followed by an "OK" button. After I clicked on this button, another window titled "Nyquist Prompt" popped up, showing the list below: ((1 ((1.11038 1.11038 "") (2.24923...
