Re: Any recommendations for a new (budget) USB audio interface (+ USB filter?) and a pair of monitors

I've had two pairs of t.bone HD 880. Both have now died, My Sennheisers have fixed cables, and my first set I got out of the trash when we moved edit rooms. The philosophy was, "They're trash anyway, let's see if I can force them apart and find the break." I could. So now I have a set with one shor...

Re: Audacity Just got Slooooooow For Me

I make my machine notify me when it needs to update. Can you do that in Windows?

Re: Reducing booming

I'm not sure I can hear it myself: Now you're scaring me. Audacity doesn't work in the subjunctive mood. "We might require click removal had the clicks been audible." You posted a mono (one blue wave) track. If you post mono, you can announce out to 20 seconds before the forum cuts you off. Post a ...

USB filters, the one I found to have fair claims of being efficient
Power regulation and cleaning has to come from somewhere and it's not tiny or cheap.

I tried one of those USB filters and it didn't do much. It didn't produce world peace or cure cancer, either. Imagine my disappointment.

Re: Any recommendations for a new (budget) USB audio interface (+ USB filter?) and a pair of monitors

Powered USB hubs seem to make some people happy and they're much cheaper... We stopped recommending those when somebody found a USB hub that was so .... affordable that it put wall power noise into the sound. Also, you're clear that the microphone has to be in the hub by itself. There is no sharing...

Re: Reducing booming

Also, you're not booming any more. That problem vanished with the shiny walls and the echoes. As I posted, all of those rescue tools can go away.

Re: Reducing booming

Low-Rolloff allows more natural sound to go through than 100Hz Rumble. It's more gentle to male announcers with low voices. The Rumble Filter follows the convention that the name of the filter reflects the half-power point. At 100Hz, the Rumble Filter is already running and reducing volume. In Low R...

Re: Optimal bit depth setting with Yeti mic?

While we're here. Post a sound sample according to this formula. We're down here in the weeds with a magnifying glass when you could have other very serious problems.

Read down the blue links. They're very short.

Re: Optimal bit depth setting with Yeti mic?

I should just record from the beginning in 16 bit?
You could as long as you don't edit anything. The reason for 32-floating is so Audacity doesn't damage anything during the edit.

Re: Optimal bit depth setting with Yeti mic?

I don't know how you see this on Windows, but there is a utility on a Mac called Audio MIDI Setup that allows me to see the digital standard that the Mac is using to connect to my USB thing. I don't have a USB microphone, but this is my USB stereo adapter. Screen Shot 2021-05-12 at 15.20.24RedDot.jp...
