Ensure that Audacity, and ". AU" files are whitelisted in your antivirus.
That's only relevant to Audacity 2.4.2 and earlier.
Audacity 3.x uses a different project format and does not use .AU files (See: https://www.audacityteam.org/audacity-3-0-0-released/)

Re: creative sounblaster audigy fx

The old SoundBlaster cards used to have a "What U Here" option, which was SoundBlaster's version of "Stereo Mix". I don't know if they still have that. If they do, then that will be the easiest option. See the "Stereo Mix" section here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer...

There should be some information in the Audacity manual about these files - not sure if there is yet.
Yes, I thought there would be: Managing Audacity Projects

Re: Odd Project Behavior

You can think of the WAL file as a temporary workspace for the project. The full gory details are described here: https://sqlite.org/wal.html On some platforms there's also a SHM file, which has the same lifetime as its associated WAL file. Normally you won't see these files, though you may if you o...

As of this morning, I am unable to open the Tone Test file.
Try extracting it again from the ZIP that Koz uploaded. Does a fresh copy of the Tone Test project work?

I had trouble managing the plain aup3 file
The forum should now be able to handle AUP3 files, provided they are small enough.

Re: Audacity performance on M1 Macbook Air

So from what you're saying, it sounds like eventually there will be an M1 version of audacity? Don't quote me, but my guess is that Apple will gradually migrate all of their Macs to M1 and drop all support for Intel based Macs, so I'd expect that it's likely that Audacity will follow suit eventuall...

Re: Identifying Tracks

I’m trying to record drum tracks with my Roland TR-27 kit. Is that the correct model number? Below is a list of the audio routing for the 28 channels: That looks like a list of virtual input channels. If you have the V-drums TD -27, then according to Roland, it has 4 audio output channels. Re: cut/paste problem

Perhaps this is a bug in Audacity? This behavior seems to be different than that of Notepad, for example I guess it could in a strict sense be classed as a bug, but it's rather more complicated to handle this than it is for say NotePad. Whereas NotePad is only concerned with printable text on the O...
