Audacity uses your computers sound system drivers. Some ... what's coming from your speakers you should use "What you hear" - this is the term used by Creative, whereas other manufacturers ...

Ah, that explains the greyed-out input selector. So is the fact there's no wave option in the Audio I/O tab solely down to the X-fi drivers? With XP there was a wave option, but what u hear seems to do what I want. When I had the X-fi installed ...
