... I think that is what is causing the problem. Not sure how to fix it though or why it would be dropping connection like that. Do you have another USB cable you can try? Are you plugging the cable directly into the Mac (not through a hub). Does the device disappear from System Preferences? -- Bill

Make sure the cassette deck is connected, has fresh batteries, and is turned on.

Check the USB lead and connections. It looks like the USB device is disconnecting.

Once the connection has been lost, Audacity is unlikely to find it again, even if the device reconnects, without either:
* restarting Audacity
* Rescanning audio devices ("Transport" menu)

Mac version 10.13.5 / Audacity 2.3.0

My Audacity keeps quitting as soon as I press record on my device. (SUPER USB CASSETTE CAPTURE)
or it will record for about 2 ins and then quit. I have tried what I can. Does anyone have any advice for Mac users.

Those reverberating sounds suggest that you're recording from the built-in microphone, not the cassette.

Please read this page and tell us if it helps. Note that your USB cassette may show up as "USB PnP Device" or similar.
